ASD Learning Support Assistant - Bury - ASAP

Prospero Teaching are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support an alternative provision in Bury, on a full time basis, to start as soon as possible and will be on an ongoing basis until July 2025.

The organisation caters for students up to the age of 17. The students who attend here have Autism and/or SEMH. Most of the students also have an EHCP. The students will need support in engaging with their specialised provision. You will need to be able to build strong relationships with the students you work with and have a passion for supporting those with special needs.

The ideal candidate:

A recent graduate who wants work experience within Special Educational Needs
Experience of supporting students with additional needs in particular Autism
Experience with sensory or physical impairments
Experience of supporting those with complex needs in a care setting
Strong teamwork ethic
Driven, energetic and keen to pursue a career in education and special needs
reliable, consistent and caring

The role will consist of:

Providing tailored support and working with children with SEN and complex needs
Creating a safe environment that allows children and other students have fun, learn and succeed
Academic support

Location Bury

Minimum daily rate GBP100 per day
Full time Monday Friday 8.30am - 4 pm
Start date - ASAP
End Date- July 25

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience providing personal care with young people (desirable)
Previous experience working with young people with ASD or PTSD (essential)
Previous experience working of working with young people (which we can reference)
Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (essential, but we can provide training)
Up to date Prevent awareness training issued in the last 3 years (essential, but we can provide training)
Up to date behaviour management & FGM training (essential, but, we can provide training)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional child related references
Experience supporting young people with special educational needs, specifically Autism (ASD/ASC)
Previous support work, TA or LSA work within a UK school or other related experience.
A caring and professional manner, willing to support with the personal care of pupils.
