As a School Chef, it will be your job to help the schools' other permanent members of staff within the kitchen completing daily tasks. We place Chefs on a temporary basis in all school, college, and university kitchens, from cook through to head chef level. Working days are Monday to Friday and hours will vary each week.
What's involved?
Deliver excellent standards of customer service
Assist with stock control/stock taking including receiving and checking supplies and safe storage
Support the Catering Manager in instructing the catering assistants in food production methods
Carry out additional tasks concerned with the operation of the kitchen, as and when required by the Catering Manager
Deputise for the Catering Manager as and when required
Assist in the planning and preparation of innovative seasonal menus and cooking for special functions and events which encourage healthy and nutritional eating habits
Ensure food is prepared in accordance with relevant regulations and the procedures expected by the Catering Manager
To ensure that food is prepared in accordance with the academies Hygiene Procedures, e.g. temperatures are recorded, samples are taken, foodstuffs are stored safely and hygienically and a food production plan is completed.A valid enhanced DBS on the update service is essential for this role.
