About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Machine Shop Manager to oversee and optimize machine shop operations within a dynamic production environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all processes, personnel, and facilities are managed safely and efficiently, with a focus on meeting production targets and delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Management: Ensure all Machine Shop operations adhere to the highest safety standards, including conducting regular risk assessments and maintaining a secure work environment.
Operational Efficiency: Maximize the efficiency of machine shop operations, ensuring the timely availability of components to support planned assembly start dates while meeting quality standards.
Issue Resolution: Address and resolve day-to-day operational issues promptly, seeking assistance when necessary to minimize disruptions and adapting plans to mitigate the impact of unforeseen problems.
Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team comprising machinists, sheet metal workers, fabrication workers, and saw and metal stores workers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Coordination: Maintain effective communication and coordination with other production areas to ensure seamless operations across the board.
Facility Maintenance: Oversee the safety and security of the Machine Shop areas, ensuring high standards of housekeeping and proper maintenance of equipment.
Production Involvement: Participate in the production management team, providing support and deputizing for the Production Manager when required.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Production Manager and is responsible for overseeing machinists, sheet metal workers, fabrication workers, and saw and metal stores workers.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in managing a machine shop or a similar production environment.
Strong understanding of machining processes, safety protocols, and production management principles.
Excellent leadership abilities with a proven track record of team management.
Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to handle operational issues efficiently.
Strong communication and coordination skills, with an emphasis on cross-departmental collaboration.
