Position: Group Workshop Engineering Director - HGV/LGV
Salary: £100,000 + company vehicle
Location: Cardiff and surrounding areas (Relocation candidates welcome)
Candidate Profile:
We seek candidates with experience as HGV Technicians, HGV Fitter Welders, or LGV Technicians/Mechanics who have worked on Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles, particularly those with expertise in specialized equipment such as HIABs, Skips, Tippers, Grabs, RoRo's, Hook Loaders, and Compactors. This experience could come from a variety of sectors including Plant Hire, Waste Management, Aggregates, Quarrying, Recycling, Building Supplies, Tankers/ADR, Dairy, Cement, Petroleum, Chemical, Skips, Cranes, Haulage, Transport, Scrap Metal, Military, Forestry, Road Surfacing, or Highways Maintenance.
Role Overview: Group Workshop Engineering Director - HGV/LGV
In this role, you will oversee an onsite workshop and manage a team of 6-10 fitters, with plans to grow the team to 15 and bring some sub-contracted work back in-house. You will work closely with HGV Fitters, Vehicle Technicians, LGV Engineers, and Mechanics to ensure the effective maintenance and servicing of vehicles and plant equipment while adhering to all health and safety protocols.
Experience Requirements:
The ideal candidate will hold a City and Guilds qualification in HGV Maintenance Engineering or an equivalent Motor Vehicle Technician qualification, paired with extensive HGV experience. You should have a proven track record in workshop management, including overseeing teams of HGV engineers, and implementing cost-saving initiatives across the group. Knowledge of COSHH, LOLER, and PUWER regulations is a significant advantage. A strong focus on promoting a positive health and safety culture within the team is essential. Previous experience as a Workshop Manager, HGV Fitter, Mechanic, or HGV Technician/LGV Technician with Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles, including specialized equipment like Tippers, Grabs, RoRo's, Hook Loaders, and Compactors, is highly desirable
