Buyer / Purchasing Assistant – Portsmouth area – Manufacturing

We’re recruiting for a Buyer / Purchasing Assistant on behalf of a global manufacturing company to join them at their site on the outskirts of Portsmouth. This is working within the centralised procurement team who coordinate closely with additional sites in the UK. You will need to have excellent communication skills and demonstrated purchasing expertise within manufacturing. This is a great opportunity to grow within a business that are rapidly growing.

Responsibilities

The role of Buyer / Purchasing Assistant will mainly be focussed on ordering from the Far East supply chain but will have the following responsibilities:

* Evaluate MRP demand and raise and issue purchase orders

* Liaise between production, planning and purchasing teams

* Review and action engineering change notifications

* Resolve supplier non conformances

* Help implement continuous improvement and efficiencies

Requirements:

To be considered for the role of Buyer / Purchasing Assistant you will ideally have the following:

* 2 years minimum experience in a manufacturing environment

* Experience working with a Far Easy supply chain would be advantageous

* Strong IT and Excel skills

* You will also be a good communicator with the ability to prioritise workload

Package

The successful candidate for the role of Buyer / Purchasing Assistant will receive the following:

* Salary circa £32,000 - £35,000

* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

* Working hours are Monday to Friday 8am – 4:30pm

This is an office-based role but travel to visit supplier and other sites will be required.

The role of Buyer is commutable from Portsmouth, Fareham, Havant, Hayling Island, Chichester and surrounding areas.
