About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Energy Strategy to spearhead the analysis of current practices, benchmark against industry models, and develop a strategic approach to resource planning and utilities procurement (electricity, gas, and water). This role involves commissioning and contract management to deliver a cost-effective and efficient service, immediately realising savings by reducing waste, ensuring full corporate contract coverage, and centralising administration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and delivery of an energy strategy roadmap.
• Manage an assistant and build a team of officers.
• Oversee a multi-million-pound utilities budget.
• Develop and deliver a net-zero carbon strategy.
• Consolidate energy contracting.
• Improve meter reading and reporting.
• Undertake bill validation and recover money.
• Ensure energy certificate compliance.
• Procure cheaper, greener energy.
• Conduct asset condition assessments.
• Develop asset decarbonisation plans.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in energy engineering, environmental management, or a related field, or relevant experience in a similar role within a large organisation.
• Professional membership of the Energy Institute, CIBSE, or another recognised body.
• Proven experience in carbon management and delivering carbon/energy improvements in a large organisation.
• High numeracy skills with excellent IT proficiency.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience of conducting procurements and writing business cases, reports, and funding bids.
• The ability to think strategically and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
