Lead Energy Strategy Manager and Assistant Strategy Manager
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £550
Contract Type: Initial 6-month Contract Inside IR35
About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Energy Strategy to spearhead the analysis of current practices, benchmark against industry models, and develop a strategic approach to resource planning and utilities procurement (electricity, gas, and water). This role involves commissioning and contract management to deliver a cost-effective and efficient service, immediately realising savings by reducing waste, ensuring full corporate contract coverage, and centralising administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of an energy strategy roadmap.
- Manage an assistant and build a team of officers.
- Oversee a multi-million-pound utilities budget.
- Develop and deliver a net-zero carbon strategy.
- Consolidate energy contracting.
- Improve meter reading and reporting.
- Undertake bill validation and recover money.
- Ensure energy certificate compliance.
- Procure cheaper, greener energy.
- Conduct asset condition assessments.
- Develop asset decarbonisation plans.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in energy engineering, environmental management, or a related field, or relevant experience in a similar role within a large organisation.
- Professional membership of the Energy Institute, CIBSE, or another recognised body.
- Proven experience in carbon management and delivering carbon/energy improvements in a large organisation.
- High numeracy skills with excellent IT proficiency.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience of conducting procurements and writing business cases, reports, and funding bids.
- The ability to think strategically and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
