Azure Virtual Desktop Support Engineer (AVD SME)

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires an experienced Azure Virtual Desktop Support Engineer (AVD SME) to be based in their client's office in Wokingham, UK.

This is a hybrid role - you can work remotely in the UK and attend the Wokingham office 3 days per week.

This is a 6+ month temporary contract to start ASAP.

Day rate: Competitive Market rate.

The right candidate should be an experienced Azure AVD subject matter expert in imaging, implementing, managing, and maintaining, also MSIX app packaging for Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop and remote apps for any device. Terraform is a must have skill set to perform day to day activity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Should be able to manage end-user desktop environments, including delivering applications and configuring user settings. to manage an Azure Virtual Desktop deployment
• Manage and deploy updates via Azure update manager
• Update the AVD image based on business requirements provided by client, including monthly security patches, updates required to support a client enterprise release and version upgrades of software that has been operationalised
• Create, update, and respond to Monitors of the AVD environment
• Analyse system performance indicators and recommend improvement actions for Azure AVD based production configuration
• Service Restoration activities not requiring privileged access (incident management, system troubleshooting, perform Elevating access activities, escalate actions requiring Privileged Access to client team members)
• Manage and maintain identity, security, compliance, and protected user devices
• Printing on Azure Virtual Desktop using Universal Print
• Create all necessary documentation including system standards, run books, and more Research

Key Requirements:

• Good knowledge and hands on experience in Terraform
• Strong hands-on experience installing and configuring Azure Virtual Desktop including host pools AVD images and scaling
• Good hands-on experience Azure infra as service and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Azure Virtual desktop solution
• Capacity planning, in coordination with AVD Architecture & Engineering
• Strong hands-on experience on Azure Virtual Desktop operational support
• Have good knowledge of Azure AVD publishing applications web server load balancing Resource Manager License Management
• Very good hands-on experience on Group Policy management
• Good understanding on cloud License management
• Very good hands-on experience cloud concept Azure Virtualization, Azure Networking, Azure Identity and Azure Storage
• Good hands-on experience on User profile management product, Roaming Profile, Fslogix and OneDrive
• Good hands-on experience in automating upgradation/migration, remediation, jobs, report tasks by using creating PowerShell CLI script and PowerShell and Batch scripts
• Should be aware of an App Layering solution like Flex App MSIX App attach etc

Work experience:

• Minimum 5-7 years of work experience as Azure Virtual desktop Engineer
• Must possess ample knowledge and experience in system automation, deployment, and implementation
• Candidates must possess experience in using Azure AVD, Azure AD, Azure Network, Azure security and Storage and ample experience in configuring and automating the tasks through PowerShell

Good to have:

• Working experience on VMware horizon view
• Strong hands-on experience on upgradation/migration on VMware and VMware horizon view
• Create, manage, and deploy Active Directory Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and associated custom GPO templates for the virtual environment
• Follow and enforces organisational IT security policies and processes, including change management processes
• Ability to serve as the primary engineer for the client software and hardware environment
• Strong knowledge of Windows, and Mac operating systems
• Ability to make recommendations regarding the client architecture, and articulate the value that new products would bring to clients
