Highly successful and fast growing organisation has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Python/AWS Software Engineer.
They are looking for a talented individual who will design, implement, and maintain publishing software, systems, and customer-facing digital products.
Requirements
- Design and implement systems and software to meet their requirements using appropriate tools and methods.
- Promote the creation of high-quality code by commitment to practices such as test-driven development, pair programming and code review.
- Be responsible for the technical development of all stages of software creation, including testing; ensure that implementation meets security, performance, and safety requirements.
- Suggest improvements to the code base, development processes, tooling and working practices.
- Encourage innovation by identifying, evaluating and adoption of emerging technologies.
- Assist with the design, implementation, and testing of open APIs.
Knowledge & Skills for this job
- Able to demonstrate commercial software development experience.
- Practical experience in system design, development, testing and operational stability.
- Deep knowledge and experience in Python and its ecosystem, patterns and pitfalls.
- Experience applying continuous delivery, test driven development and pair programming.
- Experience of working in an agile environment and an understanding of Scrum principles in particular.
- Experience writing and consuming RESTful APIs in Python.
- Experience with AWS services (Lambda, SQS, API gateways, S3).
The Directorate
This role will work closely with our Delivery Lead, Data Quality Manager, Lead Architect, Software Developers and Chief Technology Officer.

Basic salary up to £62,000
Based in Central London
