Azure Cloud & On-Prem Application Support Engineer | Up to £50k | Remote (Travel once or twice/year)

Are you an experienced Application Support Engineer with a strong background in Azure and cloud technologies? Do you want to be at the forefront of a financial institution's journey to becoming a digital bank? If so, our client, a leading financial institution, is offering an exciting opportunity to join their dynamic team.

About the Role:

As an Azure Cloud & On-Prem Application Support Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in both maintaining and advancing a complex technical estate that spans both on-premises and Azure cloud environments. This is a unique chance to contribute to the early stages of a cloud journey for Virgin Money, helping to build out their cloud platform while still supporting existing on-prem applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Platform Development: Help in building and optimising the cloud platform as the organisation moves into Azure.
  • Hybrid Environment Management: Balance work between on-premises systems and Azure, ensuring seamless operations across both environments.
  • Application Support: Provide robust support for a wide range of applications, including those related to payments, databases, data warehousing, monitoring, and AML systems.
  • Azure & On-Prem Tech Stack: Work with a diverse tech stack.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with the Azure virtual team and be a key player in the application team, helping to guide the cloud adoption process while adhering to the established practices of the organisation.
  • On-Call Support: Eventually participate in a shared on-call rota to ensure 24/7 support for critical banking operations.

What We're Looking For:

  • Azure Expertise: Solid experience managing production services on Azure, including Power BI, Data bricks, and Digital Data Factory.
  • Hybrid Skills: Comfort and experience in supporting both cloud-based and on-premises solutions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Windows and Unix operating systems, with additional skills in Powershell Scripting and automation being highly desirable.
  • Financial Services Experience: Background in supporting applications in the financial sector, particularly in areas like BACS, CHAPS, and Faster Payments, is a plus.
  • Team Player: Someone who can fit into a laid-back, easy-going team, but who can also take the lead when necessary.

Why Join Us?

  • Impactful Work: Be part of a team driving the transformation of a leading financial institution into a Digital-First bank.
  • Career Growth: Gain experience in a cutting-edge cloud environment with opportunities for certification and professional development.
  • Flexible Working: Enjoy the flexibility of remote work, with travel to the office once or twice a year for social visits.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Up to £50k plus £5k on call, with potential for higher compensation based on certifications and key skills.
  • Learning Opportunities: Access to resources like Pluralsight for continuous learning and development.
  • Work-Life Balance: Support for a healthy work-life balance with flexible working arrangements.

If you're passionate about cloud technologies and eager to be part of a transformative journey in banking, we want to hear from you.
