Spirehouse Recruitment, a specialist Social Housing recruitment firm, are seeking a qualified or part-qualified Capital Accountant for a position based with a Social Housing provider in High Wycombe.
The Capital Accountant role ican be taken on a temporary or temp-to-perm contract, would ideally start swiftly and acts to manage the Fixed Asset Registers and ensure the recording of all housing property capital transactions from the inception of schemes to the completion of the original construction phase, including accounting for initial sales receipts.
Experience in a Capital Accountant or similar role, knowledge of business planning and Social Housing expertise are all ideal in order to secure this post.
The post is a broad role and the successful candidate will be expected to:
* Maintain the Group’s project ledger and fixed asset registers (or any replacement systems),
* Keep fully abreast of the progress of the development programme, including an understanding of the financial arrangements of the key schemes in the portfolio
* Ensure that multi-tenure schemes are recorded accurately, with the costs correctly charged to each tenure and legal entity
* Ensure that any development nominal ledger journals required are prepared within agreed timetables for month end and year end.
* Prepare the journal entries for capitalisation of administrative costs and interest.
* Ensure that, upon completion of projects: the project ledger is cleared out and the appropriate fixed asset records put in place
* Ensure that the fixed asset registers are kept up to date in terms of ensuring that all new assets and disposals are calculated correctly.
* Ensure that the Group’s property depreciation is calculated correctly and that each asset has a record of the cumulative depreciation to date held on it.
* Ensure that the capitalised reinvestment expenditure is correctly accounted for.
* Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets
* Year-end financial accounts, working papers and statutory returns that meet accounting and regulatory requirements.
* Continuation of improvements to our financial and management reporting information systems
* Internal audit processes and outcomes
* Lead on the annual review of accounting policies relating to non-current assets to assess their on-going suitability and application for non-current assets
To secure the Capital Accounant post, the business are seeking the below:
* Proven experience in a similar role
* Full or part-qualifications up to ACCA or SIMA
* Knowledge of business planning
* Working experience in a Social Housing environment
