Position: Electrical Design Engineer (Power & Lighting Design)

Project: Major Telecoms Infrastructure Project - 4G & 5G Implementation on the London Underground

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team for a pivotal role in designing power and lighting systems as part of a major telecoms project. The project involves the deployment of 4G and 5G infrastructure across the London Underground. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing comprehensive design packages, ensuring high-quality and precise outputs that meet project requirements.

• Design & Documentation:
  • Develop detailed power and lighting designs for the London Underground 4G & 5G infrastructure project.
  • Produce high-quality design packs, including but not limited to:
    • Electrical drawings
    • Calculations
    • Schedules
    • Technical specifications
• Software Proficiency:
  • Utilize AutoCAD 2D for creating and modifying electrical drawings.
  • Perform electrical design calculations using Trimble ProDesign (Amtech).
  • Carry out lighting designs and simulations with Dialux.
  • Prepare and manage documentation using MS Office tools.
• Compliance & Standards:
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant UK electrical design standards.
  • Apply knowledge of subsurface rail systems, especially adhering to TfL Cat 1 standards where applicable.
• Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with a small, focused team to deliver project objectives.
  • Liaise with external parties, including contractors, consultants, and stakeholders, to ensure design alignment and project success.
  • Take on responsibilities within the team, contributing to problem-solving and decision-making processes.

• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, Trimble ProDesign (Amtech), Dialux, and MS Office.
  • Strong understanding of UK electrical design standards.
  • Experience or strong knowledge of subsurface rail systems and TfL Cat 1 standards is a significant advantage.
• Professional Attributes:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities and proactive in problem-solving.
  • Capacity to engage with external stakeholders and manage relationships effectively.

• Prior experience in electrical design within the infrastructure sector, particularly with a focus on power and lighting.
• Experience in telecoms projects or subsurface rail environments will be highly regarded.
