Company Introduction
As a key role within the HSE Team, your advice and support to managers, supervisors, and colleagues will be instrumental in improving the service the HSEQ department provides to all employees.
By ensuring that sound health and safety practices are identified, documented, and fully aligned with the key business drivers, while ensuring these are understood and complied with throughout the organisation, you will support and enable the company to exceed its statutory and contractual obligations in managing all HSEQ aspects across a diverse risk landscape.
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
The Health & Safety Manager plays a crucial role in supporting and advising on health, safety, quality, and environmental practices. The goal is to ensure that the company meets and exceeds its statutory and contractual obligations across various projects
-Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with employees at all levels to promote a culture of safety and engagement.
-HSEQ Management: Implement health, safety, and environmental initiatives. Manage corrective and preventive actions to ensure high standards of safety and compliance.
-Audit Support: Assist with ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO45001 audits, and support operational teams during external audits.
-Training & Mentoring: Provide training and mentoring on safety issues, risk assessments, and compliance.
-Documentation & Reporting: Maintain records of HSEQ activities, incident reports, and compliance documents. Prepare reports for senior management on audit findings and safety performance.
-Incident Management: Lead accident and incident investigations, utilising root cause analysis to recommend preventative measures.
-Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Provide guidance on legal requirements and standards.
-Communication & Collaboration: Work closely with operational teams to ensure safety measures are understood and implemented. Deliver presentations on safety performance and initiatives.
Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:
1. Technical Skills: Proficient in using Microsoft Office and familiar with health and safety management systems.
2. Trained auditor or experience in conducting audits.
3. NEBOSH General Certificate is essential
4. Experience in a Full time health and safety role, preferably within electrical or construction industries.
Desirable Skills/Experience
Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:
1. Locally based
2. Overhead Lines or substation background
3. Windfarm backgrounds
4. Qualifications in fire safety, asbestos management, or CDM are desirable.
5. Level 5/6 qualification in Health and Safety.
