Harvey Nash's Client is recruiting for a Developer on a 12 month contract.
Main Responsibilities
- A versatile developer who will concentrate on designing and building robust and scalable solutions for managing the company's storage repository. This includes tasks such as storage provisioning, monitoring, alerting, auditing, and inventory management.
- Besides designing and integrating storage solutions in collaboration with third-party vendors, the candidate will develop in-house applications that will be integrated into the business's technology platform.
- The ideal candidate will also create storage tools for problem management and preventive maintenance, including alert and capacity management.
- Furthermore, the candidate should have a strong understanding of storage virtualisation, automation, storage provisioning, distributed and scale-out file systems, software-defined storage solutions, and emerging technologies in infrastructure automation and observability.
Key Skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a global team is essential. The candidate must also be able to listen to customer requirements and effectively advise, discuss, and articulate technical solutions.
- Experience deploying, operating, and administering a Linux operating system in an enterprise environment.
- Proficiency in software development is required, with expertise in one or more of the following programming languages: Python, Perl, and/or Java.
- Experience with best practices in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for large software development projects is essential.
- A solid understanding of computer science fundamentals is important.
- Familiarity with object-oriented concepts and SQL programming is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of storage technologies and disciplines, such as Fibre Channel, iSCSI, SCSI, NFS, CIFS, POSIX, Object Storage, SAS, SATA, Flash (NVME, SSD, etc.), RAID, erasure coding, distributed/scale-out storage, file systems, high-availability methods, and working knowledge of databases, is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of networking protocols and connectivity is preferred.
- Experience in system architecture within enterprise UNIX (RHEL)/Windows Server environments, container environments (RH OpenShift/Kubernetes/Docker, etc.), and cloud environments (Azure/AWS/Google) is highly desirable.
- A strong understanding of Client Server and scale-out architectures, virtualization, and performance and capacity management is preferred.
- Effective troubleshooting skills across operating systems, networks, and storage are important.
