Payroll Manager - 6-month contract Inside IR35
Payroll Manager - 6-month contract Edinburgh (Hybrid) Up to £228 per day Inside IR35
Loriens leading public sector client is looking to bring on a Payroll Manager on an initial 6-month contract (2x possible extensions potentially available) to come in and manage 2x Payroll Officers and deliver payroll and pensions services for circa 1300 staff.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring accurate input to the HR& Payroll system - iTrent (MHR)
- Continually reviewing processes and working practices to ensure legislative compliance and effective payroll service whilst protecting payroll integrity and security.
- Ensuring appropriate reconciliations and submissions are performed on time.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as MHR, HMRC and MyCSP (Civil Service Pensions) to ensure monthly and Annual returns are correct.
- Advise on issues of pay, tax, National Insurance, pension and other voluntary deductions.
- Consider the impact of proposed legislation and make appropriate recommendations.
- Lead, manage and develop two Payroll Officer and ensure they understand their roles
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience of successfully managing a payroll function and providing advice and guidance on payroll queries to staff.
- A good understanding of income tax and HMRC obligations
- Understanding of Pension legislation
- Experience in using payroll systems and reporting on payroll information.
- Experience of delivering high quality customer service.
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Good communication skills
