Network Engineer - South Wales & remote

You can be mainly remote for this role but you will be required to travel to South Wales fairly regularly so the ideal would be to find someone already based in Wales.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Management:

Design, implement, and manage WAN, LAN, and WLAN infrastructure.

Ensure network security and compliance with standards and policies.

Monitor network performance for reliability and availability.

Maintain network hardware: routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.

Work with third-party vendors for network contracts.

Troubleshoot and resolve network issues to minimize downtime.

Network Configuration and Optimization:

Configure and optimize network infrastructure for efficiency and security.

Manage VLANs, VPNs, and QoS policies.

Perform network performance tuning and capacity planning.

Optimize DHCP, DNS, and IP address management services.

Microsoft 365 Management:

Deploy, configure, and manage Microsoft 365 services.

Support Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.

Manage user accounts, licensing, and configurations.

Implement security and compliance policies using tools like Intune.

Migration Projects:

Plan and execute network migration projects.

Develop and document migration strategies and schedules.

Coordinate with vendors, stakeholders, and IT teams.

Perform post-migration testing and validation.

Network Security:

Implement and manage network security measures.

Conduct regular security assessments and audits.

Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

Provide advanced support for network infrastructure issues.

Collaborate with IT teams for seamless system integration.

Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.

Documentation and Training:

Maintain detailed documentation of configurations and procedures.

Provide training and knowledge transfer to IT staff and end-users.

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in network engineering.

Ideal Technical Skills:

Expertise in network design, implementation, and management.

Proficiency with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).

In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN protocols.

Experience with network security practices and tools.

Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.

Certifications:

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+, or Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP) preferred.

Soft Skills:

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Effective project management and task prioritization.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Experience with offshore teams in a multicultural environment
