Job Description

Title: HR Employee Relations Advisor

Location: Hybrid in Southampton (60% in the office.)

Duration: 31-12-24 (Could be extended)

We are IT Recruitment Specialists partnered with a prestigious Global Consultancy who required a HR Employee Relations Advisorfor one of their Clients based in Spring Place, Southampton (Hybrid).

IR35: This role is Outside Ir35

Role Description:
The HR Operations team delivers core HR services to the MCA through four key areas; Resourcing, Pay & Reward, Systems & Data, Employee Relations & Wellbeing.

Role Purpose: To support with the management of the MCA's casework provision. This will include the management of key internal and external stakeholders to ensure all formal employee relations in the MCA is delivered to the required standard and in line with policy, whilst providing a high level of governance.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to:
To work in conjunction with the HR Employee Relations Casework Managers, and MCA managers to ensure that all casework and employee relation activities (including disciplinary, grievance, poor performance, attendance, and probation) are actioned in accordance with MCA and wider Civil Service policies and procedures, ensuring a timely conclusion to all cases. Support with the management of all litigation cases including Employment Tribunals and Personal Injury claims, working in partnership with relevant internal and external stakeholders to gather and prepare evidence, witness statements and supporting individuals through the process. To form effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, which includes, but is not limited to: Government Legal Department, Trade Union Representatives, Department for Transport (DfT) Voice of the Customer, DfT Group Policy, MCA managers and employees. Monitor and maintain up to date casework Management Information (MI), identifying trends and risks whilst pro-actively identifying solutions. Support the production of accurate monthly reports to the HR Employee Relations Casework Managers and the HR Employee Relations Lead for reporting to senior management, the Chief People Officer and MCA Executive Team. Work closely with managers and HR colleagues to review case outcome recommendations and if relevant any actions are carried out promptly and in accordance with MCA procedures including but not limited to; payroll notifications, warnings, mediation, training. Provide training and refresher training when required to responsible investigation, decision and appeal managers and provide support to managers as and when required. Maintain a robust system of governance to cover all aspects of casework including records management, GDPR, tracking and oversight of the legal budget. To ensure adherence to government requirements, statutory legislation and agreed timescales. Providing coaching and support to managers as and when required. Design and deliver manager toolkits to improve management capability. Support with the implementation of any relevant policy changes, including communication to the business and changes to the Staff Handbook. Provide support for the HR Employee Relations Casework Managers including invoice processing, minute taking, and various administrative tasks as required, processing data in line with GDPR legislation. Managing a Quality Service Making Effective Decisions Delivering at Pace Communicating and Influencing Working Together.

Essential Minimum Criteria
Demonstrable up to date knowledge of employment law and HR experience, including casework management. CIPD qualification (Level 5) or be willing to work towards it. Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders including senior managers and external service providers. Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage shifting priorities.

Special Features of the role (working hours/health standards, etc.) Regular travel around the UK to attend internal and external meetings, this may require overnight stays
