One of the worlds largest and most respected pharmaceutical companies requires a Procurement Manager to work in their operations team buying direct materials.

This company are renowned for product innovation and delivering world class drugs and medicines. They operate globally with a large presence in the North West of England.

This is a critical role within Global Procurement, including responsibility for spend within our UK Operations site based at Macclesfield. You will operate in a variety of areas, but mostly Direct Materials. Business Partnering is a key part of the role - to ensure that our strategies are fully aligned to current and future Business needs and deliver the supply base to support these strategies.

You'll have an appetite for change and innovation, and bring an ambitious, motivated approach to our already high performing team. The Procurement Manager is responsible for managing the commercial and contractual elements of the sourcing process, along with developing and taking ownership for relationships with key strategic suppliers.

Key accountabilities:

  • Develop and manage business relationships with key suppliers overseeing and managing the procurement process and monitoring business spend against budgeted savings. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining Supply Agreements for your allocated area.
  • In conjunction with your peers in the Global Procurement Organisation you will identify and lead improvement initiatives and project teams in support of longer term business strategy. Through this you will develop and cultivate your technical expertise and knowledge within the function.
  • Work closely with our Operations colleagues to deliver continuous improvement and overall value creation.
  • Consistently look for new solutions and being creative in your thinking to meet the needs of your stakeholders.
  • Operate at a senior level across the Operational Leadership Teams, partner with the teams to identify and implement changes, often in complex and challenging business areas.

Essential requirements & skills

  • Strong Contracting experience and confidence in putting Agreements together.
  • Solid Procurement experience preferably within an Operations environment
  • Passion for Sustainability
  • Tenacity to achieve results.
  • Excellent Business Partnering skills
  • Supplier Management experience

This is a wonderful opportunity to work for a world leading pharma, the day rate is £375 per day (outside of iR35) for an initial 6 month contract. The position requires 3 days a week in the Macclesfield office with the rest WFH.
