Data Center Practice Director
Location - Central NJ/NYC Metro
Salary - Generous plus $45,000 bonus
The ideal candidates should come from a strong technical Data Center background with an ideal trajectory starting as an engineer progressing to an Architect with recent Practice Management or Director level experience.
Ideally candidates will have a Technical Expert level certification including or similar to CCIE but its not a 100% requirement provided you have all the other skills and experience.
Reporting to the CTO/Chief Technology Officer of this IT Solution
Provider/Cisco Value Added Reseller, the Data Center Practice Director is in an entrepreneurial leadership position focused on driving the growth and success of the Data Center Practice. The Data Center Practice Director will provide thought leadership, set strategic direction for the practice and ultimately drive sales. This position will be accountable for ensuring the overall quality of execution of the practice.
Position duties and responsibilities:
Own accountability for the performance and growth of the Data Center practice including: setting strategic technology direction, sales growth, recruiting and managing talent, key account management, project delivery, operations, and practice P&L
-Drive overall growth of the technology organization through a combination of business development, talent management, oversight of project delivery, and thought leadership
-Lead business development activities, leveraging professional contacts for the goal of increasing sales
-Customer Engagement Management - Provide presales engineering support, manage engagement risk, manage project economics including: planning and budgeting, defining deliverable content, and ensuring buy-in from customers of proposed solutions
-Manage Development of Team & Individual personnel - Maximize team performance through effective recruiting and training, skills and performance
assessment, mentoring, and team morale enhancement activities
-Thought Leadership - Provide relevant industry direction and continuously develop/enhance solutions aimed at growing the practice.
-Identify sales opportunities with new and existing customers
-Influence practice revenue and gross profit through effective management of practice P&L.
-Provide leadership and direction to both pre and post-sales engineering teams to ensure alignment between teams and customer satisfaction is achieved
-Manage executive-level client stakeholder relationships and assist the Sales Teams in positioning technology solutions and services to clients
-Work with sales, marketing and leadership to identify and create new solution offerings
-Provide thought leadership by participating in industry forums, events, speaking engagements, and social media.
Minimum Education & Experience:
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical degree
-Technical Expert level certifications with Cisco, Dell/EMC, AWS, VMware
-10+ years of experience focused in technology-based consulting or equivalent industry experience
-P&L management experience
-Experience managing people, including mentoring and leadership skills
-Career background in presales engineering/architecture of Data Center technologies and solutions
-Expert business operations experience including: service development, profitability management, and staff utilization
