Job Purpose/Summary:

One of my clients is looking for an Infrastructure Architect to join their team based in Milton Keynes. Reporting to the Senior Enterprise Architect, this is a challenging and varied role which provides the opportunity to use discretionary behaviour, negotiation skills and exercise strong technical knowledge and ability.

Main Accountabilities/Purpose

  • Provide consultancy to help determine technical approaches to solving business problems and meeting business needs
  • Direct the production of all technical designs to conform with the overall IT Strategy
  • Review, quality assurance and governance of architectural and design artefacts generated throughout the development life cycle
  • Facilitate the resolution of technical issues and trade-offs between the engineering disciplines as projects and programmes proceed
  • Lead infrastructure architectural and development Governance activities with internal and external suppliers across large multi-project programmes to ensure that designs and implementation are aligned with IT strategy
  • Participate in the Architecture Review Board
  • Review Principles and Policies for the Architecture Review Board and coordinate with other Senior IT Managers to ensure they are understood and applied

Job knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience required:

  • Significant and relevant experience in an Infrastructure Architecture role within a professional environment
  • Delivering large scale, multi-project technical solutions
  • A broad range of technologies and architectural approaches and a pragmatic approach to their application
  • Enterprise integration approaches and their application in a highly complex environment
  • Should have participated in, and be familiar with, Prince II and Agile techniques
  • Establishing Architectural implications of performance, scalability and extensibility on system design and approaches
  • Governing the architecture of large scale multi-part architectural developments
  • Translating complex architectural issues to non-technical staff within the business
  • Producing technology roadmaps and life cycles including full lifetime cost estimations
  • Experience of managing technical staff
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent preferred
  • Should have participated in, and be familiar with, SDLC and Agile (Scrum) project methodologies
