QA Defect Manager (JIRA/AWS) - SC Cleared

Location: London (Hybrid)

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Up to £55k per annum + plus benefits

SC Clearance: Candidate must be SC Cleared or eligible for SC Clearance

Job Summary

The QA Defect Manager will be responsible for managing and coordinating the defect life cycle for various projects within the organisation. This role requires extensive experience in Atlassian JIRA, cloud environments, excellent problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure defects are tracked, managed, and resolved in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end defect life cycle using JIRA, from identification to resolution, ensuring defects are properly documented, prioritised, and tracked.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, and release operations teams to identify, analyse, and resolve defects in a timely manner.
  • Utilise AWS cloud services to facilitate defect tracking, management, and resolution processes.
  • Develop and maintain defect management processes, ensuring they are efficient, effective, and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular defect triage meetings to review and prioritise defects, ensuring critical issues are addressed promptly.
  • Provide regular status updates on defect metrics and trends to stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Implement and maintain automated defect tracking and reporting tools to streamline defect management processes.
  • Provide dashboards, workflows and filters to facilitate observability to stakeholders
  • Train and mentor team members on defect management best practices and tools.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Essentials Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA defect management, with at least 2 years of experience in an AWS cloud environment.
  • Strong understanding of AWS services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
  • Proficiency in JIRA defect tracking tool.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Certification in Atlassian Tooling
  • ISEB QA Qualification or equivalent
  • Certification in AWS
  • Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements in cloud environments.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
