Postdoctoral Fellow - fMRI

Our department has two (2) openings for postdoctoral fellows with expertise in functional neuroimaging as part of a well-funded, highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment focused on the development of clinically relevant biomarkers for serious psychiatric disorders, especially schizophrenia.
One fellowship, mentored by Dr. Todd Lencz (), will be supported by a newly funded NIMH grant to investigate the relationship between neuroimaging measures and cognitive genomics in the development of psychopathology.
The other fellowship, led by Dr. Anil Malhotra (), is supported by recently-funded NIMH grants investigating resting-state fMRI biomarkers of treatment response in schizophrenia.
Positions will be funded for 2-5 years with competitive salary and benefits, commensurate with experience. Postdoctoral fellows at the Zucker Hillside Hospital are mentored to develop into independent investigators; our department has a strong track record in obtaining competitive funding for our fellows and junior investigators, including NIH K awards and Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (NARSAD) Young Investigator Awards. Fellows have access to a 3T Siemens Prisma MRI magnet and a high-performance Linux-based computing environment.
For both positions, the primary role of the fellow will be the conduct and analysis of functional neuroimaging studies, leading to first-authored publications in high-impact journals. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. in a relevant area (e.g., neuroscience, bioinformatics, etc.) and/or have research experience relevant to analyzing MRI-based datasets, especially resting-state functional connectivity. Task-based fMRI, diffusion imaging, and structural MRI data are also part of these projects, although secondary in emphasis. Experience in at least one fMRI analysis platform (FSL, SPM, AFNI, etc.) is required, and knowledge of R and other statistical packages is also desirable.
