Role Summary:

URBN is seeking a Linux Engineer who will be responsible for supporting and maintaining a Point-of-Sale (POS) System which runs on open-source platforms. A large focus of this position will be on production support as well as developer operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth deployment of code and packages, developing documentation, as well as troubleshooting any issues that arise during the process.

Role Responsibilities:

·         Must be able to lead initiatives across cross-functional teams.

·         Strong communication skills and needs to be able to track issues and escalate when needed.

·         Candidates must be able to collaborate in a professional manner and be responsible for multiple projects and tasks demonstrating accountability.

·         Develop solutions to deploy code and packages created by the retail development team, ensuring smooth deployment and functionality.

·         Assist the QA team with new device integration and testing.

·         Maintain code repositories in Git, including code maintenance, updates, and changes.

·         Provide testing support for payment team initiatives.

·         Participate in an on-call support rotation with other team members.

Role Qualifications:

·         Organizational, time management, and prioritization skills

·         Prior experience providing support on open-source operating systems.

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced culture is a must.

·         Attention to detail with a high level of integrity and accountability.

·         Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

·         Ability to manage and prioritize workload.

·         Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced changing environment.

·         Strong proficiency in command-line interfaces as well as Docker, Puppet, Git, Bash, and Python.

·         Basic understanding of Java, SUSE/Redhat based operating systems, and virtualization platforms.
