One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Contracts Officer. This is a temporary contract for 2 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance.

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary

The post-holder will support the operational provision of waste and environmental maintenance related contracts and Public Realm Services in order to meet customer needs and expectations and help to achieve related performance targets.

Duties and Responsibilities

* To provide waste and environmental maintenance operational advice to colleagues and residents.

* To identify and investigate problems with the waste and recycling collection services, and work with stakeholders to overcome them.

* To investigate and respond to complaints from the public and others concerning the work of the waste and recycling contractors (and other environmental maintenance contractors)

* Collate, analyse and utilise performance data to ensure the service is best placed to achieve local and national targets. Includes preparation of tonnage data used for Waste Data Flow.

* To carry out, record and action results from the monitoring of the East London Waste Authority/Shanks contract in line with the requirements of the SLA as well as compliant with relevant health and safety laws and best practice.

* To undertake site visits for the purposes of contract monitoring or service investigations and wear appropriate clothing and PPE as necessary and when required. Prepared to carryout lone-working adhering to task-related risk assessments.

* Periodically review task-related risk assessments to ensure they are fit for purpose, agreeing changes and actions with Contracts Management Officer.

* To record and update the data undertaken from site visits and contract monitoring in a logical and concise manner.

* Ensure that the Contact Centre is provided with specialist advice which enables decision making on specific issues relating to waste and recycling, and environmental maintenance.
