DevOps Engineer

Job Overview

As the Systems Engineer/ DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for working as part of a team and improving on our clients current best practice deployments and automation in the company.

As a team, they are responsible for designing, building, and operating all company networking, the services they consume from AWS, monitoring systems, databases.

Our client has invested a lot of up-front effort in building scalable, secure, and resilient systems, capable of supporting all the needs of their customers. You'll be collaborating with other Software Engineers and the CTO to determine the approach.

The role offers great opportunity for an individual with a passion for creating awesome products and a desire to advance their technical understanding and development delivering online services for the global oil and gas/energy industry sector.

Clients Infrastructure Stack:

AWS, Docker, Ansible, PostgreSQL, Django/Python, RabbitMQ, Celery, Linux, Sentry, Kubernetes

Responsibilities and requirements in the next three months - Work to improve the following areas of our client's current approach:-

Install Open VPN system

Continuous Delivery

Host, Network & Container Security

Distributed Tracing across microservices

Metric Visualization and Alerting

Incident management procedure

Full automation of all tasks that are required for ongoing PCI compliance

Following the approach of:

As simple as possible, but no simpler

Best security practices

Minimum privilege principles

Ensuring fault tolerance and high availability

Automation of processes

Setup alerting of service anomalies and security events

Ongoing responsibilities

DevOps Research and Development

Maintain the state of the art in our deployment and automation strategies

Penetration and security testing
