Vineland Schools has these immediate openings: Math Teacher Duties: Reports to the Mathematics Supervisor in cooperation with the Principal; provides learning experiences and supervision of assigned students; assists students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet the State Core Curriculum Content Standards by using approved curricula and directives of the school; works collaboratively with staff members and parents/guardians; performs related duties as requested. Requirements: N.J. Teacher of Mathematics certification. Strong computer literacy. Note: This position is for middle school; however, future relocation is possible. Bus Drivers Attendance and performance evaluation considered for internal applicants. The successful candidates are required to reside in New Jersey within one year of employment. Duties: Reports to the Coordinator of Transportation and Registration or his/her designee; transports students to and from school and other sites within designated route(s) while ensuring passenger safety and obeying all traffic laws; follows all departmental and district policies and procedures; maintains safe vehicle operation at all times; picks up students at designated locations; consistently monitors communication from Transportation Office regarding time changes, maintenance issues, or schedule changes; follows assigned school arrival times; works in cooperation with the bus attendant, if applicable; maintains order and proper discipline of student passengers according to district policy; reports student misbehavior to the building administrator and Transportation Office; conducts bus safety and operational inspections; assures proper fuel level of vehicles; inspects bus during pre-trip inspection; performs periodic safety drills as required; completes necessary reports; maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition; completes safety checks, including passenger counts; attends departmental meetings; attends programs to maintain current knowledge of New Jersey Motor Vehicle requirements; follows all requirements to maintain updated CDL in a timely fashion; related duties as assigned. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of current New Jersey Commercial Drivers' License with School and Passenger Endorsements or agreement to earn such within specified and monitored time frame. Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults. Ability to understand and follow bus operation and safety practices and procedures. Diesel Mechanic Duties: Reports to the Garage Supervisor; performs mechanical work in repair, maintenance, and servicing of school buses, and other motor vehicles and construction equipment; works with machines and hand tools; repairs engines, components, power trains, suspension systems, and other mechanical units (automobiles, vans, trucks, buses, bulldozers, tractors, cranes, road graders, power shovels); obtains description of mechanical problems from drivers and test drives the vehicle or uses testing equipment; locates worn, dirty, or poorly adjusted parts through visual checks or use of testing devices (timing lights and dwell meters or other diagnostic equipment); removes, cleans, or replaces defective parts; makes settings and adjustments (setting distributors, voltage regulators, points, gapping spark plugs, engine idle, timing, and adjusting brakes); removes units; disassembles unit and inspects parts using micrometers, calipers, and thickness gauges; repairs or replaces parts; overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps; rebuilds parts (crankshafts and cylinder blocks using lathes, shapers, drill presses, and welding equipment); rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panels; relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders radiator leaks; mends damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts; replaces and adjusts headlights and installs and repairs accessories; disassembles and rebuilds components, bearings, and gears; aligns, meshes, and connects repaired units to related mechanisms and makes adjustments; adjusts ignition timing, valves, spark plugs and other parts; installs air conditioners and service components; aligns and balances wheels and repairs steering and suspension systems; performs related duties and special projects as requested. Requirements: Valid NJ CDL or agreement to earn such within specified and monitored time frame. Mechanic employment experience or formal training for school bus repair. Demonstrated knowledge of motors. Familiarity with mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of heavy duty systems, assemblies, and parts. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties. Physical Science Teacher Duties: Reports to the Science Supervisor in cooperation with the Principal; provides learning experiences and supervision of assigned students; assists students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet the State Core Curriculum Content Standards by using approved curricula and directives of the school; works collaboratively with staff members and parents/guardians; performs related duties as requested. Requirements: N.J. Teacher of Physical Science certification. Strong computer literacy.
