Planning and preparation Demonstrate content knowledge and skills of the discipline.Demonstrate the ability to understand and effectively relate to and teach adolescents as they become young adults and members of the community.Prepare instructional materials, maintain equipment, and manage materials of instruction which maximize the resources needed to deliver effectively a diverse instructional program.
Curriculum Develop projects based on the technology standards that will increase student critical thinking and problem solving skills.Map curriculum to standards and continuously update to stay current.
Instruction Develop a culture of trust, respect and responsibility in the class. Immerse in project-based /student centered learning based on New York State standards, 21st century skills and real world experiences.Provide differentiated instruction and program management in the areas of technology.Provide instruction in teamwork, communications, problem solving, decision making and computer technology, which relates to work place and higher education skills.
Assessment Utilize both formative and summative assessments to determine student achievement and make informed decisions to change instruction based on the data.Evaluate the technology program annually and update the program based on data. Professional Responsibilities Reflect on teaching practices. Commit to continuous, ongoing professional development and certification courses, including curriculum development and assessment, summer programs, trainings in the use of instructional technology and other content-specific trainings.Work with colleagues and post-secondary programs to develop and maintain career plans that will help students make informed decisions regarding their goals and interests. Demonstrate an understanding of, and lead student experiences in the SKILLS USA student organization.Contribute to the mission of the school by striving to attain school improvement plans and career completer goals.Work with employers and community groups to promote the advance of technical skills through an active program advisory committee.Participate in recruitment of students.Demonstrate collaborative and team work competencies among colleagues.Work with students in an advisory program or mentoring capacity.Establish a close and meaningful communication, both verbal and written with parents, administrative and supervisory personnel, staff and students.Perform other duties as assigned.
Authority Authorized to act upon delegation of the CTE Director and Principal on matters pertaining to assigned responsibilities within constraints of law, Rules and Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, policies and procedures of the Rochester City School District and budgetary guidelines. Not authorized to act upon those matters specifically withheld by immediate supervisor.
Reporting Requirements Report on a regular basis on matters within the assigned areas of responsibility to the Principal. Report on progress of the technology program and student achievement.
