Arc of Livingston-Wyoming Job Description POSITION TITLE: Social Worker STATUS: Exempt PROGRAM: KidStart DEPARTMENT: Clinical Summary: Provides counseling services for children and parents as identified on the IEP. Assists Evaluation Center Coordinator with Evaluation Center responsibilities. Provides support to classroom teams in addressing the social emotional needs of children. Actively support the use of developmentally appropriate practices, as defined by the National Association of the Education of Young Children, while providing services to children. Essential Functions: Provides counseling services as delineated on IEPs for children enrolled at KidStart.Completes social histories in a timely manner for children referred for initial evaluationsKnowledgeable about community resources for families with young children and system of referral for needed servicesParticipates in the planning and implementation of parent education programs.Participates in Functional Behavior Assessments as appropriate.Conducts parent interviews as part of the evaluation process.Attends CPSE/CSE meetings as requested.Participates in team meetings to ensure consistent and coordinated services for children. Nonessential Functions: Conducts self so as to best contribute to, promote and implement the mission; philosophy and policies of the agency.Serves on community committees at the request of the Program Director as a liaison with KidStart.Attends conferences and training pertinent to social work and support services for families.Participates in training initiatives and special projects to extend and enhance the expertise of individuals and the quality of programs at KidStart.Makes recommendations to the Family Services Coordinator with regards to policies and procedures at KidStartAttends monthly Staff meetings.Attends staff meetings on children in KidStart programs.Keeps informed of legislation and regulations pertaining to job responsibilities. Must have effective communication and conflict resolution skills Physical Requirements: Must be physically and mentally fit to provide developmentally appropriate assessment and treatment of young children. Must have the physical abilities and stamina to provide therapy and be active throughout the day. Work with young children requires: Ability to run or walk quickly.Ability to move between sitting on the floor, kneeling, squatting, stooping and standing while working with children.Ability to lift children.Ability to manipulate and carry large therapy equipment including therapy balls, barrels, bolsters and bags of toys.Work may require travel to offsite work locationsMust be able to move quickly and react calmly in response to an emergencyMust exhibit good judgment in matters concerning the health and safety of children. Working Conditions: Generally working in a typical office environment. May require travel to offsite locations.
Minimum Qualifications: LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker)One year experience working with young children is preferred.Valid NYS Driver's License with safe driving record as per the agency policy.
