Instructor of Public Relations School of Communication and Journalism South Dakota State University The School of Communication and Journalism at South Dakota State University invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible, 9-month appointment in public relations at the instructor rank. This position reports to the Director of School of Communication and Journalism. Begun in 2016, the public relations major became ACEJMC-accredited in 2018 (the school's other programs have been continuously accredited since 1948). RESPONSIBILITIES:Teach undergraduate courses in public relations.Teach other undergraduate courses as assigned.Coordinate the public relations major.Serveas adviser or co-adviser to the Public Relations Student Society of America.Provide service to the school, college, and university as well as the local and regional public relations profession.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree in public relations or a closely related field.Professional public relations experience.Effective oral and written communication skills.Effective interpersonal skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of five years of full-time, professional public relations experience.Experience teaching at a college or university.Experience working with students on public relations campaigns.Experience with a student-run agency.Demonstrated proficiency with industry technologies (hardware and software), multimedia platforms, and social media.
