Student Health Clinic and Counseling Services at South Dakota State University is seeking two full-time, 9-month, benefit eligible Staff Counselor positions. These positions will provide mental health services for college students serving as Counselors in the Student Health Clinic and Counseling Services (SHCCS). These positions report directly to the SHCCS Assistant Director. SDSU actively seeks to increase social and intellectual diversity among its faculty and staff. RESPONSIBILITIES:These positions serve as mental health counselors providing individual and group counseling, as well as prevention education, to a diverse population of students with emotional, behavioral or academic concerns to promote student well-being, success, and retention at SDSU. Counseling Services is located in the Wellness Center and is integrated with the Student Health Clinic within a university setting. Successful applicants will be required to provide after-hour crisis intervention services within a response time of 45 minutes on a rotating schedule. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:• Master's Degree in Counseling or a closely related field completed by first day of employment;• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences;• Excellent oral and written communication skills;• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;• Strong interpersonal skills;• Ability to work as a contributing team member; • Must be able to provide after-hour crisis intervention services within a response time of 45 minutes on a rotating schedule. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Experience with after-hours crisis intervention;• Experience working with a diverse college population in a college setting;• LPC, LPCMH, LMT, or MSW, CCDIII Level Licensure in the state of South Dakota;• Experience providing educational training on mental health issues and various topics to large groups (20+);• Experience facilitating group counseling sessions.
