Parsons July 15, 2019 Assistant Superintendent, Administrative Services VACANCY NOTICE Please Post/Job #1290 TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST for INCLUSIVE EDUCATION 11-Month, Full-time Position (238 Days) Certified Position School Improvement Services Program Affiliation: Non-Affiliated Location: BOCES A-Building & Component Districts (Position works the Regular calendar, plus 20 days in the summer - earns additional vacation days.) DUTIES: *Assists in planning and implementing a customized, professional development service for the BOCES and component school districts, focused on inclusive educational practices. * Presents a variety of multi-day and after school workshops addressing instructional and management strategies for teachers, focused on inclusive instructional practices. *Provides ongoing, in-district inclusive education support for teachers, administrators, and related staff through a range of professional development opportunities including presentations, discussions, observations with feedback, lesson demonstrations, coaching, facilitation, and individual or small group planning/problem solving. *Researches and disseminates information relative to improvement of instruction and student achievement. *Assists districts in interpreting and applying the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards and other NYS Standards. * Gains familiarity with component district data and assists districts in translating NYS Assessment and other relevant data into recommendations for professional development and instructional improvements. *Communicates and collaborates with other professionals and departments within BOCES to provide a consistent, coordinated professional development effort for the region. *Assists in developing, editing and distributing program flyers, brochures, and announcements of program offerings. *Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with the literature, NYS and Federal mandates, new research findings, improved techniques, and for attending appropriate professional meetings and trainings. *Attends NYSED meetings as related to the position. *Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities assigned by the Executive Director of Regional School Success or designee. QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess NYS Teacher Certification, preferably in a secondary content area, literacy, and/or special education AND have a minimum of 5 years of successful experience as a classroom teacher complemented by a sound repertoire of instructional strategies related to inclusive education (accessible strategies, differentiation, co-teaching, motivating students, active learning, learning styles, etc.). Experience presenting related professional development preferred. Knowledge of NYS Standards and NYS Next Generation Learning Standards, current educational trends, initiatives for school reform, and staff development required. Candidates with exceptional related skills and experience with Elementary Teacher Certification will be considered. START DATE:August 12, 2019. SALARY HIRING RANGE: $51,850.00 - $61, 000.00 (11 Month position; works regular calendar plus 20 days in the summer.) (Position works 7.75 hours/day, 38.75/hours/week.)
