General Position Summary:

The Senior IT Business Analyst works on complex IT projects to collaborate with the multiple business stakeholders to understand the project requirement needs, identify current and future state business processes, assist the business stakeholders in uncovering areas for improvement, and consult with leadership to envision future business capabilities.

Job Scope:

Job will include activities supporting projects across a highly diverse catalog of technical areas and working with teams across diverse locations, backgrounds, and disciplines. The Senior IT Business Analyst performs duties independently and with minimal supervision. This position has high visibility to leadership and business partners through direct interaction and reporting.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Consult with stakeholders and users on complex projects to identify current business procedures and clarify project objectives
  • Actively create a collaborative environment and influence people to move toward a common goal
  • Build strong working relationships with other team members and customers
  • Able to break down complex problems and issues, is a consensus builder, and brings people and teams together to support a work environment in which people are able to perform to the best of their abilities
  • Act as a senior leader on the project team to create, interpret and apply organizational processes and recommends improvements
  • Identify current business procedures and assist in clarify project objectives
  • Build strong working relationships with other team members and customers
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to communicate information effectively and in the appropriate form to customers, business users and technical staff
  • Partner with project stakeholders to ensure the project requirements are communicated and facilitates the process to capture and prioritization the requirements
  • Provide analysis of business challenges and apply problem solving skills to meet business needs
  • Creatively translates information using business knowledge and identify additional information needed to support business objectives
  • Interact with customers to define information for solution needs and ask the right questions to surface essential requirements information
  • Monitor and track multiple projects and the associated tasks simultaneously and cope with rapidly changing information and circumstances
  • Participate in the presentation of information to customer and internal business areas
  • Creates project documentation which may include Business Requirements Documents, AS-IS and TO-BE Process Flow and Data Flow diagrams, Solution Design Specifications, Test Plans, and Test Cases
  • Appropriately escalates functional, quality, and other project issues
  • Maintains a clear understanding of the mission and goals for the role and department
  • Ability to effectively work in a matrixed organization, aligning and developing an outstanding relationship with the IT Project Manager

Specific Job Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree, 8+ years of work experience in IT Business Analysis
  • Healthcare background/experience is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working as a top level specialist with the ability to drive change and decisions with excellent reasoning judgement
  • Translates initiatives into actions through a thoughtful, organized and well-planned approach
  • Comfortable initiating conversations with both business and technology leaders within the organization, as well as the ability to translate business issues and requirements into technical solutions
  • Adept at critical thinking, analysis and making valid recommendations
  • Recognizes problems and is able to make recommendations/decisions on the best course of action to remediate
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to analyze problems and resolve issues quickly and methodically
  • Proven ability to map business process, gather requirements, and write technical requirements/business documents
  • Experience managing technical/functional requirements and traceability documents
  • Comfortable working with internal development teams, as well as external third party vendors
  • Creative, flexible, and self-motivated with sound judgment; ability to plan and implement
  • Ability to work independently in a matrixed environment while managing multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Adaptable and willing to learn and develop new skill sets as applicable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio


  • Bachelor's degree from a four year college/university, preferred
  • Combination of job relevant education and experience may substitute in lieu of a degree

Job Conditions:

  • Up to 25% travel may be required
  • Job hours may exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during times of peak activity
  • Evening meetings and/or weekend work sometimes required to ensure timely project completion.
  • Moderate to high job pressure exists in the balancing of several projects with conflicting and sometimes changing deadlines.
