Southeast Georgia Health System has an opportunity for a Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist to join our Cardiopulmonary Cath Lab team!

Summary: Provides direct care to patients and provides assistance to the Cardiologist during all phases of the procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization lab. Performs a variety of technical and administrative duties that relate to the cardiac catheterization lab. Works primarily with adult and geriatric patient populations. Scheduled hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; however, there is an "on call" obligation and overtime may be necessary at times. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, and adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission requirements, and national patient safety standards.
  • Performs scrub duties during procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization lab.
  • Calibrates equipment and accurately performs recorder duties during procedures.
  • Observes patients closely, and immediately communicates information (arrhythmias, change in pressures, pain or mental state) to catheterizing physician before, during and after a procedure.
  • Performs interim room cleaning and stocks supplies.
  • Transports patients.
  • Accurately maintains department records and patient logs, and enters patient charges for cardiac catheterization procedures.
  • Complies with Time and Attendance in accordance with Health System policy.
  • Problem solves and interacts with other departments and medical staff.
  • Successfully completes any other duties as may be assigned.

The ideal Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist should possess the following minimum qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited technical program in Cardiovascular Technology or have a healthcare related associate's degree with RCIS certification. RCIS required within 18 months of hire for new graduate.
  • 2 years experience in a cardiac catheterization or special procedures lab preferred
  • Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) credential required
  • Exhibits positive interpersonal skills as 90 - 95% of time is spent interacting with others.
  • Demonstrates discretion and sound judgment.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development by maintaining RCIS and the American Heart Association ACLS Certification, attending educational programs, and seminars and reading current literature. Has keen awareness of budgetary responsibilities.
