Overview
Peraton is seeking an entry- level Systems Administrator to provide smooth operation of multi-user computer systems for our customer in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In event of a system failure provide recovery of services to operations based on service level; utilize troubleshooting skills and available procedures in restoration of services. Other duties may include setting up user accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
In this position, the Systems Administrator will work to coordinate with developers to update algorithm versions; document algorithms, installations, and hardware changes; coordinate with site, developers, and test teams to schedule algorithm installations; and complete technical investigations for discrepancy reports. The Systems Administrator will maintain a static hardware environment which is comprised of RHEL 6.7 systems and Windows 7 systems. The servers supported consist of both physical servers and Virtual Machines. Network File System (NFS) is used to remotely mount directories where the algorithms are installed and where the output files are stored. Thin-clients are used to access the servers over the network.

Responsibilities
What you'll do...
  • You will monitor and manage system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency.
  • You'll perform systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts.
  • Coordinate installation and provide backup recovery.
  • Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • Monitor systems to ensure availability to all users and perform necessary maintenance to support availability.
  • Diagnose hardware problems and replace defective components.
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Maintain and administer computing environments.
  • Monitor performance of computing environments.
  • Perform routine startup and shutdown procedures.
  • Maintain IT systems infrastructure to include upgrading and installing new hardware and software and supporting upkeep of critical systems.
  • Y ou'll also review system and machine event and error logs on routine basis.


Qualifications
You'd be a great fit if...
  • You have a Bachelor's degree or (6+ years of experience in lieu of degree)
  • You have a current Security+ Certification
  • You have prior experience with Linux / Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows operating systems
  • You have some experience with virtual machine environments
  • You have some experience with NFS
  • You have prior experience with BASH commands and shell scripting
  • You have prior experience with networking
