Residency Coord/Prof Dev Spec - Surgical Services

Assists in the design, development and delivery of curriculum to meet training and learning needs of New Graduate Registered Nurses, RNs new to Surgical Services and New Graduate Certified Scrub Technicians. Works with the Director of Clinical Education/Academic Partnerships to review, evaluate and modify existing and proposed programs. Evaluates training and learning to verify key performance indicators are being met. Assists in the evaluation and selection of candidates to meet hiring needs as appropriate. Consults with Nurse Recruiter and Leadership in Surgical Services to forecast and support hiring needs. This is a full time position which requires flexibility of hours and is not eligible for overtime pay.
Minimum five years acute care surgical services experience, required. Three years of Nursing Professional Development, nursing education and/or training experience, required. Advanced computer skills/experience with computerized documentation systems and office applications, required.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Required. Master's degree in education, healthcare related field or MSN required.
Current unrestricted CA RN License, required. BLS Provider required. CNOR Certification, required; Certification in Nursing Professional Development, preferred.
Demonstrates an understanding of the AORN standards and maintains knowledge of regulatory. requirements related to providing safe patient care in the Perioperative setting. Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with interprofessional team. Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with staff and physician colleagues. Demonstrates exceptional project planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time. Demonstrates the ability to leverage evidenced-based research and transfer knowledge into learning. Leads monthly Perioperative Educator/Trainer Meetings. Maintains CNOR Certification requirements and participates in continuing education related to adult learning, communication, and mentoring. Integrates principles of adult learning, facilitation of learning and coaching/mentoring when developing training and during interactions with staff. Demonstrates flexibility when faced with a fast-paced and changing work environment. Is a proactive team player and enjoys working in a collaborative work setting. May be involved in unit-specific training and staff development for existing staff and new hire experienced Perioperative nurses, as required. Demonstrates creativity in program development and facilitation.
