We now have a number of exciting opportunities to join one of the South Wests leading employers as a Senior Technician in our Resources and Production team. This role will be based in our West operational area (Cornwall/Plymouth), with frequent travel to our sites throughout the area and, when required, to our other operational areas covering parts of Devon, Somerset and Dorset (Bournemouth Water).
What will you be doing?
As a Senior Technician in the Resources and Production section in the Drinking Water Services Department, you will be part of a flexible, regional team that will provide co-ordination and expert support to existing operational and maintenance activities in various locations depending on priorities. You will assist in the review, planning, coordination and delivery of various maintenance activities (for example tank and process equipment inspection and cleaning).
You will also review and update of site documentation and procedures, support business improvement programmes and deputise for the operational management team when required. You will work closely with existing operational teams.
Whilst the roles are nominally area based you will also be required to operate flexibly across the South West Water and Bournemouth Water areas depending on operational needs. This may require travel or periods away from home.
Participation in a standby rota will be required.
What do you need?
- NVQ 3 in Operating Process Plant, or working towards this
- Management qualification, or working towards this
- HNC in Water Operations or equivalent
- Hands-on operation and maintenance of water treatment process and plant
- An understanding of a range treatment processes
- Basic mechanical, electrical and ICA equipment operation and maintenance
- Ability to diagnose, trouble shoot and rectify operational issues
- Solid understanding of key regulatory requirements such as water quality, waste management and health and safety legislation
- Full UK Driving Licence
