Job Summary / Purpose The LPN or CMA utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) in a supervised, systematic approach to the direct and indirect care of patients and their families. The LPN or CMA is expected to incorporate and demonstrate the message of Unity Family Healthcare s stated philosophy and mission in daily performance of duties. The LPN or CMA assumes responsibility and is accountable for actions taken independently and delegated by supervisors in the delivery of patient care. Responsible for assisting providers with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks such as chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinic services. Conveys a positive image of clinic. May be assigned to specific medical specialist to help with patient care related to that specialty. The medical assistant serves in a multidisciplinary capacity providing general services to a wide variety of populations including pediatric, medical, surgical, ambulatory, orthopedic, geriatric, and women s health.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities Checks schedules and organizes patient flow.
Accompanies patients to the exam room and updates electronic medical.
Prepares patients for exams/procedures.
Assists/performs medication administration, dressings and collecting of lab specimens as instructed.
Relays information regarding follow-up care and return visit to patients and families.
Schedules tests and procedures as directed.
Obtains lab/x-ray reports, hospital records, referral information as indicated.
Completes forms and requisitions as needed.
Sets up, cleans and restocks exam and treatment rooms as directed.
Respects/promotes patient rights.
Follows all rooming standards per policy and protocol.
Required Education for Staff Job Levels
License Practical Nurse or CMA
Required Licensure andCertifications
Graduate of accredited school of nursing with currentlicensure as a LPN in the state of Minnesota or CMA, BLS certification.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills andAbilities
Must have Minnesota State licensure forLPN or CMA within 6 months of hire. Computer literate.
EPIC EMR experience, previous experience as anLPN preferred. Orientation, trainingand development will be given to obtain desired entry level competency inlieu of experience.
