STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Works under the supervision of theSurgical/ETC Director and the Trauma Nurse Coordinator. The Trauma Nurse RNreviews and evaluates Trauma documentation according to policies, procedures,and standards of practice of the medical center, accrediting organizations, andgovernmental regulation.
All the criteria-based duties andstandards within this document will be performed according to the policies,procedures and guidelines of the Medical Center, while maintaining standards ofthe State Nurse Practice Act.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adheresto St. Alexius Medical Center mission, values, and Journey Beyond Excellenceexpectations to foster a compassionate, healing environment providingphysiological, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients,families, and visitors.
Assures quality ofcare by adhering to St. Alexius Medical Center policies, philosophies andstandard of care regulated by ND State Board of Nursing, the ND nurse practiceact, and other governing agency regulations.
Assistsin the review and abstract of the patient record.
Interpretand implement policies and procedures; make recommendations for revisions onpolicies needed for trauma program.
Assistsin the QI and multi-disciplinary reviewmeetings and reports at traumacommittee.
Assistsin preparation for trauma designation site visit.
Assistsin planning, coordinating, and evaluating trauma related educational programsfor nursing staff based on documented needs.
Througha collaborative effort with the Trauma Coordinator conducts audits in responseto problem identification and recommends intervention based on findings.
Assiststhe Trauma Medical Coordinator with review and certification of Level IV andLevel V hospitals as required by Trauma Standards through chart review.
Assistsin participating with community trauma education and prevention programs bydeveloping, implementing and evaluating St. Alexius and State data related toinjury prevention.

Job Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering the highest quality patient care according to the specific orders of each patient s individual physician. This will involve, utilizing your knowledge and skills to educate patients and their families on prevention and healthy habits.

Additional responsibilities for this health care role include:
  • Monitoring patients conditions and assessing their needs
  • Collaborating with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients
  • Administering patients medications and providing treatments according to physicians orders
  • Fostering a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families
Job Requirements
We are looking for a responsible and compassionate Registered Nurse with top-notch clinical skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. It is also important to display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively educate patients and their families on the in-home healthcare process.

Additional requirements for this role include:
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Specialty certification (ex: CCRN, CNOR, CEN) preferred
  • Additional certification or licensure may be required for some specialty areas
