The Goddard School in Independence is looking to hire a full time Infant Teacher (12 months - 18 months). The qualified candidate must be available to work Monday through Friday, 9am-6pm. An Infant Teacher at The Goddard School is responsible for maintaining a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment.All staff must meet the qualifications of his/her state and those set forth in the National Standards for hiring (see ), including the following:* Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid* Ability to see and read newsprint, with or without corrective lenses* Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances* Ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds* Ability to use arms, hands, legs, and feet, with or without corrective devices; this includes the ability to evacuate the building during emergencies* Ability to handle crisis situations, especially where children are involved* Ability to respond immediately to emergency situations* Lead Teacher educational requirements are the same as Director educational requirements (see Director educational requirements or one of several other criteria listed below)Qualifications:* Prior classroom experience required (Infant, Toddler, Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten)* Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices* Strong written and communication skills* Must pass BCII and FBI Fingerprinting* Preferred: Bachelors Degree - Early Childhood / Development, CDA, Associates degree or enrollment in Early Childhood Education program* Must meet basic requirements of local child care regulatory agency.* Knowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of young children.* Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.Skill Sets:* Meeting the individual needs of the children including feeding and diapering/potty training* Providing a loving and caring environment at all times* Interacting with the children to support play, exploration, and learning* Presenting expectations that are appropriate to the child s age and developmental level* Planning and implementing activities that develop self-esteem and social skills* Communicating appropriately and professionally with children, parents and fellow staff* Meeting Goddard Quality Assurance and Ohio state licensing requirements* Possessing characteristics of flexibility, composure, attention to detail and a love of working with children* Good listening and follow-up skills* Able to work with others harmoniouslyResponsibilities:* Participating in staff and training meetings* Responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children.* Maintains an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.* Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to children while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.* Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.* Maintains overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines offered in the The Goddard School Employee Handbook* Assists in other capacities that the Owner, Director, or Assistant Director, determines is necessary.BenefitsThe Goddard School offers competitive compensation and benefits based on experience, education and certifications and is an Equal Opportunity EmployerWe provide outstanding opportunities including:* Competitive Pay* Medical Mutual Health Insurance* Dental & Vision Insurance* Retirement Plan* Paid Time Off (PTO)* Paid Holidays (school is closed Christmas through and including New Year s Day; Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving Day)
