Physician: Academic Teaching Hospitalist Position for IM Res

IM Teaching Hospitalist position at a highly respected IM Residency in northeastern Pennsylvania.
Provide Hospitalist care and supervise Residents in an inpatient teaching service.
Monday to Friday daytime schedule in the hospital and 1/2 day per week in clinic.
Some call requirement during the evening and weekends with the Residents.
Other teaching or supervisory responsibilities with the Residency program.
Internal Medicine Residency Faculty is an educational, medical and administrative position with a responsibility for quality of patient care, teaching and supervision of resident physicians.
This position is not the traditional hospitalist model seven on seven off. It requires consistent schedule of providing patient care and precepting resident in the inpatient setting.
Supervise residents on inpatient teaching service.
Precept residents in clinic setting.
Lead 8-10 resident didactic conferences per academic year.
Direct involvement in completion of resident evaluations and ensure evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
Participate in scholarly activities as it relates to care delivery and performance and programmatic improvement.
Participate in annual program evaluation.
Participate in curriculum development as requested.
Actively participate in recruitment process, review candidates, interviews and selection of residents. When asked, attend recruitment fairs to recruit locally, regionally and nationally.
Participate in orientation and graduation ceremony.
Participate in resident recruitment and interviews.
Participate in monthly resident RAP sessions and semi-annual Town meetings.
Practice as a hospital based physician provider and teacher with 12 blocks of service per year and ½ day of clinic per week while in service.
Call requirement is 12 per year.
Participate in holiday coverage 1-2 per year.
Provide on call physician backup service and also participate in extra call to cover colleagues during time off and unexpected emergencies.
Actively participate in preparation and maintenance of ACGME IM Program accreditation.
Model and promote physician professionalism.
Timely completion of patient care documentation in the outpatient and inpatient settings and required resident evaluations and direct observation assessments as assigned.
Attend weekly Coordinators meetings.
Achieve and maintain Board certification, CME, ACLS/BLS certification.
Demonstrate compliance and highest integrity with industry recognized billing practices.
