About the Role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit an Electrical Designer to join our team within Energy & Marine*. As an Electrical Designer you will undertake and supervise the preparation of design and safety documentation relating to specific products, plant or processes, which meet the requirements of customers, statutory legislation, external regulatory bodies and if appropriate, the Nuclear Safety Committee.
Using your extensive experience of Electrical Design Engineering you will be responsible for the planning and production of design, safety and technical documentation drawings and associated documentation in support of Design Projects. You'll contribute to selection of best methodologies in the development of design and safety documentation, and perform configuration management activities in accordance with contract arrangements.
*Energy & Marine is a business unit within the Marine & Technology Division of Babcock International Group. E&M is a leading design consultancy providing naval architecture, marine, system engineering, electrical engineering design and project support services to the offshore, marine and defence markets worldwide. Within this business unit, Naval Engineering have vast experience in engineering, construction, concept design and through life support for a wide range of front line naval and auxiliary support vessels.
What do I need to do the role?
You will be qualified to ONC with the appropriate apprenticeship and relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, preferably in a design or marine environment or substantial experience within Design Office environment.
We would also like you to have some or all of the following:
- ability to analyse/develop/produce customer's guidance information or brief to established engineering principals in the Electrical domain
- ability to prepare/produce AutoCAD working drawings in accordance with established principal
- experience of classification and regulatory requirements within a Maritime environment
Lastly, you'll need to present a professional image at all times whether in the office or at on-site visits.
What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to hold Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this position.
