VAS Engineer (Unix experience Red Hat)

  • Second line support with necessary expertise to solve issues escalated from first line diagnostics
  • Provide guidance and implementation for software delivery and upgrades
  • Provide technical reports to identify cause of problems, and give preventive guidance to avoid same problem happen again
  • Escalate the trouble ticket to Third Line when they cannot solve it, and monitor it until solved
  • Fulfill the Service configuration and activation according to plan for Service Provisioning
  • System and service performance data collection and reporting
  • Assist in specifying performance measurement parameters, such as type of data and collection frequency
  • Periodically evaluate the service growth based on subscriber usage and assess these trends
  • System configuration - prepare implementation, rollback plan, call a review meeting and execute configuration requests
  • Traffic monitoring on each VAS NE
  • Traffic management/analysis
  • Recommendation of the capacity/SW/HW expansion
  • Fulfill the capacity expansion when license is provided
  • Routine inspection, preventive maintenance
  • Responsible of the KPI and SLA of VAS systems
  • Emergency handling

Your Profile

  • Bachelors or masters in Engineering/Telecommunications/Computer Science or equivalent
  • In depth knowledge of Unix operating systems (Red Hat, SuSe, Solaris, etc.)
  • Good knowledge in databases (MySQL, Oracle, Informix, LDAP)
  • Good programming and Scripting knowledge (C, C++, Java, HTML, PHP, Perl, Shell, etc.)
  • Good knowledge in networking (TCP/IP, switching, routing, Firewalls)
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Good social, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team professionally and personally with different reporting schemes

  • Trouble ticket management, prioritization, fault diagnosis, remote fault resolution, management and control
  • Candidate must demonstrate good communication and presentation skills
  • Well versed with 2G/3G/4G CS/PS network architecture & protocols
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in network operation/system support
  • Experience in VAS products is a must (like SMSC, MMSC, WAP-GW, Voice Mail, USSD, OTA, SDP, MTA, etc.)
  • Experience with project methodology
  • Familiar with O&M and technical support work flow
  • Strong ability to learn, self-management skills and the ability to work independently
  • High flexibility and able to manage multiple tasks, being target oriented and able to work under pressure
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse, high paced organization.
  • Fluency in English is a must, any other language is an advantage such as German.
