Information Technology within Countrywide provides and supports all aspects of the technology that our colleagues use in the operation of our business. This includes delivery of change projects, managing our 3 rd party suppliers, setting the standards for our technical architecture and ensuring our technology meets compliance and regulatory obligations, as well as maintaining and operating our estate to ensure our business colleagues can work effectively.

We are embarking on a major programme of change that will upgrade the technical estate and radically alter how we deliver IT to the business. The programme also gives us the opportunity to ensure our internal processes and the IT organisation align to standards and controls that will protect and enhance the way in which we manage our IT and deliver high quality services to our users and customers.

Our Sourcing and Supplier Management function plays a critical role in ensuring we agree the best possible terms with suppliers as we engage 3 rd parties to provide the new technology and services which will support our business going forward.

About the Role

The Sourcing and Supplier Management team are responsible for identifying, selecting, engaging, on-boarding and managing 3rd parties who provide goods and services across the IT enterprise. With support from legal experts, we negotiate binding contracts with service providers that deliver value across the sourcing lifecycle and ensure Countrywide is paying the optimal price. We then ensure that appropriate governance of the relationship manages risk, measures performance and drives continuous improvement/remediation activities where necessary.

As a Supplier Manager you will manage your assigned suppliers in accordance with agreed governance processes ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory and statutory obligations is maintained at all times. You will use your commercial knowledge and experience to negotiate and ensure Countrywide is gaining on going value from suppliers, advising your peers in operational teams on how to achieve productive, healthy relationships where both parties share an investment in a positive outcome

-Identifying, selecting, engaging and onboarding new suppliers of required services in accordance with supplier management policies and standards

-Ensuring contracts, governance approach and service quality measures are appropriate to the value of the engagement and that compliance with regulatory and statutory obligations is embedded throughout the engagement

-Negotiating the best price for agreed services, considering the end to end lifetime value of the engagement

-Implementing and managing the control framework for assigned suppliers that is appropriate to the value of the relationship and the criticality of goods/services to successful operation of Countrywides business

-Developing and maintaining successful relationships with business stakeholders, peers within IT and suppliers

-Personally, adhering to Countrywide standards and policies including those regulatory and legal obligations that are our passport to do business. Identifying and appropriately escalating if you identify any breaches

Sourcing Strategy & Sourcing risk management

-Working with your team and other stakeholders to define, communicate and drive Countrywides sourcing strategy

-Participating in assessing the sourcing landscape within and outside the organisations ensuring relationships which expose Countrywide to higher levels of risk are understood and managed appropriately

-Identifying and managing internal and industry-related risks associated with sourcing goods and services from 3rd parties

-Contributing your knowledge and understanding of categories and service providers (generic and niche) who might offer value to Countrywide

Supplier identification and onboarding

-Using your market knowledge and experience to identify potential suppliers of services to Countrywide, running fair and auditable selection processes and acting as subject matter expert to stakeholders in assessing responses

-Negotiating the price of goods and services required ensuring that best value is delivered over the life time of the contract

-Agreeing quality and service criteria that ensure goods/services meet acceptable standards

-With the support of Legal subject matter experts, negotiating contractually binding agreements that protect Countrywides investment, information and interests and comply with legal and regulatory requirements

-Executing appropriate due diligence (financial, risk and capability), advising stakeholders on suppliers ability to execute the required services

Supplier Management

-Implementing and sustaining supplier governance approaches appropriate to the criticality and value of the services provided

-Tracking performance and service quality at supplier level and supporting peers within operational teams in identifying continuous improvement or remediation activities as appropriate

-Ensuring spend & goods/services received are in line with forecasts and escalating where variance exceeds tolerance

Financial control and compliance

-For your assigned suppliers, validating that goods and services invoiced to Countrywide have been received and that values match the agreed pricing structure

-Maintaining visibility of commercial thresholds within contracts and identifying associated financial opportunities and risks

-Maintaining oversight of your suppliers compliance with Countrywide policies and their own and Countrywides legal and regulatory obligations in respect of sourcing and the services provided. You will identify and escalate non-compliance and ensure remedial actions are completed

Skills/Experience Required

-3 - 5 years in an IT Supplier Management function; deep subject matter expertise in at least one area of IT sourcing, e.g. networks, services, hardware.

-Demonstrable experience of developing and embedding Supplier governance

-Evidence of ability to establish credibility as a subject matter expert at senior and operational levels

-Experience in developing and negotiating robust contracts for IT goods and services with evidence of achieving outcomes that balance the interests of all parties

-Deep understanding of how to leverage value across the lifetime of a 3rd party engagement

-A proven record of dealing with complex projects and meeting conflicting demands

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to translate technical language into clear, accurate terminology that non-technical people understand

-Resilient, adaptable and looks for opportunities to contribute own expertise as the function changes and develops in maturity. Able to support others in adapting to new ways of working

-Demonstrable experience in developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organisation

-Must be a self-starter, proactive, highly organised and demonstrate willingness to take ownership of actions, seeing them through to completion through self and others as appropriate

-Proven ability to achieve results through effective management of other subject matter experts, particularly those with deep technical expertise

Other Requirements

-You must be willing to travel within the UK and stay away from home on occasion

-You must be willing to occasionally work unsociable hours
