Purpose of the role:

The role of the engineer will be to provide senior level management and guidance in the design, implementation, management and support of Cisco Unified Communications solutions across our large Enterprise and Corporate customer base. The Engineering team consists of over 40 engineers throughout the UK with varying Cisco qualifications and experience and the role of the Voice Network Architect is to be the ‘subject matter expert’ on Unified Communications with an emphasis on Cisco.

The Voice Network Architect will work in a small team of senior network architects and ensure that R&D, product development and integration into our service provider network is optimised and effective, ensuring an excellent customer experience

Key Responsibilities:

Be recognised as a Subject Matter Expert in the field of Unified Communications (UC) within the Network Architects Team

Design, plan, establish, and deliver UC, Voice and Collaboration solutions utilising our key vendor equipment (Cisco)

Assist the Pre-Sales team where the Pre-Sales engagement requires detailed technical responses for UC solutions

Development of Low Level Designs and implementation plans for delivery of UC solutions

Implement customer solutions based on best practice experience & technical knowledge

Ensure projects align with Design Principles related to target standardisation, security compliance and operability

Provide Professional Service functions and Technical engineering for complex moves, adds and changes

Provide Professional Services in support of our UC, Voice, WLAN, LAN and WAN Services

Maintain professional working relationships with customers, vendors, suppliers and work colleagues.

Demonstrate detailed knowledge of customer’s environment and challenges to enhance the trusted advisor status

Development and management of UC network implantation and configuration

Assist in product development and improvements

Identify training requirements to ensure that the skills required to perform the role are kept up to date and are relevant.

You will be required to travel to other locations within the UK as and when required and sometimes at short notice

Be available to perform Out of Hours (OOH) consultancy/engineering days as and when reasonably required

Mentor, develop and deliver training for the wider engineering team in your subject matter and ensure of Succession and development.

What you need for the role:

Hold a current Cisco certification: CCNP (Collaboration), CCVP or CCIE

Additional certifications such as: CCDP, CCIE, HCNP-UC, ACSS, FNCP, CWMA, MCSE etc. would be desirable

Experience in deploying implementing and supporting all aspects of Cisco VoIP solutions including Hardware, IOS, software and applications

Hands on experience with Cisco Unified Communications / Cisco Call Manager

Experience in, implementing and supporting LAN / WAN solutions

Knowledge in H323/SIP, AD, LDAP, XMPP and networking protocols and associated services

Knowledge of Voice/Video and IM protocols and services

Understanding of PBX, ACD, CTI, IVR and VoIP technologies

Knowledge/experience of Unified Communications products and services

Good knowledge of LAN / WAN technologies and network protocols gained via hands on experience

Experience of design, project delivery & consultancy across these technologies is essential

Previous experience of managing internal projects, creating low Level Designs, statement of works would be beneficial

Knowledge of Security devices and technologies such as: Cisco, Fortinet, Checkpoint etc.
