Our Client is a leading electronics manufacturer, based in the North East of England. The company currently require a talented Software Engineer to join the business.

Purpose of the Role:

The software engineer is responsible for design, development and test of a variety of software solution potentially covering the full stack from embedded solutions to cloud applications.

Parts of these systems will involve the integration of third party solutions although the ability to design and develop solutions from concept is essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Responsible for all aspects of the design, development and test of software solutions for company products.

- Development of connectivity solutions for diagnostics and control of devices to cloud or server based applications.

- Development of server or cloud based applications for device management or control.

- Supporting selection of suitable hardware and development tools to meet the requirements for applications / products.

- Determines feasibility of proposed solutions.

- Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams and/or charts.

- Undertake integration testing to ensure new product integrates correctly with other systems.

- Analyse reported faults and resolve issues.

- Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.

- Support sales, field support and production with technical questions.

- Other tasks as and when required.

- Commercial awareness

Skills/Qualifications

Essential:

- Degree in an engineering discipline.

- Sustained programming experience.

- General understanding of control and communications in embedded systems.

- Windows application development (.NET framework / C#).

- Windows 10 IoT Embedded OS image development + Powershell.

- Software development in one or more high level object orientated language.

- Software design for one or more object orientated language.

- ASP.NET MVC, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.

- Software testing / Software quality control.

- An appreciation / understanding of embedded software development.

- Application documentation.

Desirable:

- Cross platform development with .NET Core.

- Digital signage CMS such as Scala.

- MQTT or SNMP applications.

- Cloud reporting and dashboard development.

- Developing for AWS or other cloud computing service.

- Database development (SQL).

- Software test / automated software test.

- Linux deployment and development.

Salary:

- Up to £40,000 plus benefits
