TITLE: Area Sales Manager – Process Industry Division (PI)

LOCATION: Working from home within the Yorkshiresales area.

JOB OVERVIEW: The Area Sales Manager is primarily responsible for the existing and future development of sales within the geographical Sales Area in line with the Company’s overall objectives, with particular focus on end users and package vendors in the market segments: Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Food & Pharmaceutical and Chemical.

It’s expected that the Area Sales Manager will make at least 3 quality visits per available working day by appointment for which 70% of the time will be spent developing sales through visits and presentations to existing and potential customers, either directly to end users or third party associated companies.


Be responsible for the individual sales area performance compared with the agreed sales targets.

Actively develop a strategic focus on developing new business in the area of responsibility.

Demonstrate a ‘hunter’ mentality for winning new business to increase market share in all strategically important market segments.

Understand the business, market and future development plans of the main potential and existing accounts.

You are expected to load and manage opportunities in the CRM as part of a daily routine, according to the company guidelines.

Use the company Axapta /CRM systems for all appointments, activities and customer reports whilst keeping the records up to date.

Actively participate in all required company meetings and follow through all actions within the agreed time scales.

Be prepared to make proposals and communication, particularly where the response has been initiated by you.

Be responsible for margin management and price agreements where necessary.

Work with the Internal Sales Team and Product Sales Specialists to maximise opportunities, be effective and operate in the most efficient way.

Organise all activities to maximise sales development time and communication with existing and potential customers.

Represent the company in a professional, credible and sincere manner.

To work with the Company on other projects and assignments where appropriate.


Must have a proven sales record within a similar engineering field.

Extensive knowledge of the process industry is essential.

A higher qualification in a technical discipline would be advantageous.

A full & valid UK driving license is essential.

Must have a ‘hunter’ sales mentality, not a ‘farmer’.

Must have the ability to gain a deep understanding of our related manufacturing facilities and acquire a detailed knowledge of our products and services.

Must consider customer problems from different perspectives (technical, commercial and logistical).

Must have a stable career history.

Must have a proactive sales and customer driven mind-set.

Must be enthusiastic, ambitious, self-motivated and have an appetite to succeed.

A competent knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential.

Must possess outstanding communication and organisational skills.

Must have experience working with a CRM system on a daily basis.

Must have a willingness to build new relationships.

Must work with integrity.

Must be able to display leadership qualities over his/her network.

Must have a high willingness to travel, high mobility.

Must be flexible and be willing to work additional hours where workload permits
