Contract: M&E Data Center Engineer

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands (on site)

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 3-6 months

Immediate contract for experienced Data Centre Engineers with in-depth Mechanical/Electrical Facilities skills

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize Datacenter Operations for SLA's performance towards EMEA customers 100% Uptime (Temp., Hum, power, PUE/WUE, relation).
  • Implement industry best practices to enhance Datacenter efficiency and reliability.
  • Accountable for ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient way in critical planned maintenance, that meets all standards and procedures, by leveraging competent contractor/vendor resources with attention to quality, EMEA wide.
  • Ensures that the Director of Operations is fully informed and briefed on all critical planned and corrective work occurring in the datacenter.
  • Plans and implements customer requested work in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that the customer and Director of Operations are informed on the status and details of the work, EMEA wide.
  • In line with the Director of Operations:
    • Plans work on 1-line equipment according to Critical Planned Preventive Maintenance Schedule, including roadmap to be approved by Director of Operations and/or Nominated person in control of an electrical installation. (Dutch:" Installatieverantwoordelijke")
    • Prepares detailed Method of Procedure to be approved by Director of Operations and/or nominated person in control of an electrical installation including the Operations Health and Safety manager.
    • Responsible for organizing all testing of mission critical equipment on the site.
    • Ensuring that all work being done by contractors/vendors is being done in accordance with the approved Method of Procedure.
  • Next level on responses to alarms, critical situations, and emergencies in a proper and timely manner. Responsible for communicating in a calm and clear manner and in accordance with the emergency response plan.
  • Will take initiative to ensure that quality and efficiency standards are raised for all the equipment in the EMEA datacenters. This includes finding ways to delivery cost savings without sacrificing quality.
  • Finds ways to increase energy efficiency without sacrificing continuity or uptime of the sites.
  • Administers in a correct and timely manner all executed work in accordance with all process and Procedures
  • Works effectively and efficiently with others inside the organization
  • In Emergencies, is responsible for the timely response to ensure safety and operational continuity on site
  • Is monitoring all EMEA sites to ensure that safety standards are met
  • Travel is required for around 50% of the time

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical systems in use in the Datacenter environment including transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS & STS units, RPP units, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units
  • Strong communications, both written and verbal, in leading teams and coordinating with peers and other disciplines on driving projects/issues to closure.
  • Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables.
  • Superb ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/responsibilities.
  • Superb ability to meet committed timelines, leveraging assistance/input from peers.
  • Strong and effective team player in working with various disciplines and peer groups; can cover all gamut of tasks required to 'getting a job done.'
  • Strong attention to detail.

Experience/Education

  • Education level complied with by WEB level 4 (WEB = Dutch Adult and Vocational Training Act) with at least 10-years of experience or HBO (Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering);
  • LV/HV authorized to switch Certificate (NEN3140-NEN3840)
  • Mechanical and/or Electrical training/education, with particular focus in power;
  • Must have or be able to complete Safety for Operational Supervisors training (Dutch: "Veiligheid gezondheid milieu Checklist Aannemers" Abbreviation: "VCA") and OSHA 30 shortly after start of employment.
  • Relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment.
