The Network Solutions architect is required to design global networks to improve my clients overall performance for their end-users along with the best value from their suppliers. The individual will work closely with the Enterprise Network Architect as well as with Delivery and Operations teams as a key member of the team on this project.

Client Details

The client is a Global FTSE 250 professional services organisation with over 7.5k employees across 38 countries.

Deliver detailed documentation of test cases, for the validation of new WAN technology onto the enterprise network. Work with multiple vendors / suppliers / internal stakeholders to deliver this.

Execute test cases , validate and document all results. Prepare and present executive and technologist level analysis of the results.

Become operationally responsible for WAN in sites chosen for pilot technology change in an existing network (sites currently administered by another party). Monitor sites in existing monitoring solution. This is not a NOC role, this part of the role is more of a level 3 to 4 support delivered by a project team.

Deliver low level design for technology change (templated site configuration) into Network Design Authority.

Deliver detailed low level migration change plan for each site's WAN change into Network Change Board.

Analysis of bandwidth trends and capacity usage across the global existing network (non-migrated) to prepare sizing information for ongoing procurement activity associated with the migration. This will probably require custom network monitoring / capacity platform work to build this information.

CCIE R&S or SP, or other vendor equivalents e.g (JNCIE)

CCNP - but need clear evidence of experience in global scale complex WAN / routing.

Minimum 10 years in network engineering and design roles.

Some experience of support is fine, but not a support-only person. Design / deployment / testing are much more key

Global Enterprise Wide Area Network design/deployment role(s) using global service provider IPVPN , internet DMVPN and SDWAN.

SDWAN nice to have as it is new technology and will be able to be learned during this role.

Evidence of having researched and understood the SDWAN marketplace, including the Gartner MQ.

A previous Lead Network Design/Engineering role in a test/ pilot / migration to a new WAN technology solution and provider at scale (minimum of a continental region i.e. EMEA or Americas or Asia, not just one country) onto a complex network.

Multiple network technology vendors - not just a Cisco person. Clear broad demonstrable experience of different vendors. Able to choose intelligently between them, giving reasons. Able to clearly articulate & demonstrate understanding of:

What an SDWAN is , why you might want one, how to choose providers.

Service Provider BGP as applied to an enterprise IPVPN: e.g. BGP communities to influence path selection in IPVPN , how path selection works in a global network where multiple identical (default) routes may exist, AS-path control between multiple service providers.

How the internet is put together on a global scale and how to choose internet providers for a global enterprise.
