Design Manager – Manufacturing

The main responsibilities include overseeing the development of new products, engineering design and the design of bespoke solutions. Occasionally you will assist the growing sales team with specifications at quotation stage.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will work in multi-disciplinary projects, overseeing all aspects of NPD and NPI, from initial design, through to prototype, manufacture, test, and fault finding.
As well as managing the Engineering team you will be actively involved in the mechanical design elements too so you will need to have hands on involvement in design as well as experience in management.
There will be a need to work closely with customers and suppliers to ensure the final products meet customer specifications while still complying the company standards.
The ideal candidate would be approachable and confident as they will be providing expert advice and support on all mechanical issues to suppliers and internal department.
The salary will be dependent on experience, but the client can offer a competitive salary with a growing company.
The company has seen substantial growth in recent years which means that there is the scope for future progression and opportunities to take on additional responsibilities.
Ideally you will be qualified to at least Degree level in a mechanical or manufacturing engineering discipline.
With a strong background in mechanical design, you will be equally comfortable with the hands-on design as managing the team of engineers.
You will be familiar with 3D CAD packages, preferably Solidworks and have experience in a product and process development role.
Experience in designing, developing and manufacturing motion control systems, precision instrumentation and semiconductor tools is essential for this role.
