Trainee IT Technician

This job role is unique in that the successful candidate will be part of two departments within the business. IT Support & Operations. IT Support will be the main focus of the role and the successful candidate will be identified as a member of the IT Support team despite working for the Operations department as well. Therefore, the needs of the IT Support role will outweigh the needs of the Operations role for the individual, and both roles should be treated differently.
During initial training, the successful candidate will work solely within the IT Support Technician role between the hours of 04:00 and Noon Monday – Thursday, and then Friday night from 22:00 until the work has been completed usually around 8/10am.
The position involves the following areas of responsibility:
Providing full desktop support to South Normanton Warehouse staff
Supporting and maintaining Microsoft OS Desktops, Laptops, Scanners and Apple Mobiles
Setting up and configuring new laptops and desktops
Installing authorised software to laptops and desktops
Diagnosing and resolving IT related technical issues on site
Fault finding on laptops and desktops
Reporting faults and maintaining logs on desktops and laptops
Completing internal user moves including desktop phones
Making of Cat 5/6 network cables were necessary
Setting up and configuring new printer and other computer peripherals
Editing files sent by clients if necessary, to add to the data systems
Maintenance of equipment (Printers, Scales, Scanners, PC, Monitors etc.)
Running log of issues
Basic administrative support duties, as required, to meet specific operational objectives
Working extra hours to meet deadlines, as required and where reasonable
Providing assistance as required to the ICT manager
Updating and maintaining internal equipment Asset Inventory System
Ensuring that a high level of user service and support is provided to all internal DSA staff
Adhering to company protocols in the Company Handbook and ISO Accreditations and requirements
To ensure that all client items are processed within required SLA timeframes and procedures.
Flexible in your approach to working hours to the needs of the business.
Comply with company security policy at all times.
Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
Adhere to H&S regulations and reports/documents any incident to supervisor.
Operating associated software, able to identify enhancements and implements accordingly.
Duties will include processing of parcels and containerisation of these for shipping.
Ability to be cross trained with other operations within the warehouse
Excellent communication skills
Appeasing telephone manner
Ability to work both individually and within a team to support others.
Commitment to completing tasks to a high standard
Ability to inspire a positive work ethic in those around you
Approachable internally by other departments
Ability to maintain a divide of work between the shifts
