Brewster Partners are working with an exciting business in Glasgow for a Business Development Executive. My client is a fast-growing, multi-award-winning business that collaborates with retailers, manufacturers and brands to unlock the potential in surplus stock. Founded over 40 years ago, my client is now the UK's largest re distributor of surplus products, saving over 45 million units of good food from going to waste each year. Their shops are dynamic and changing and they are looking for an individual with the skills and personality to deliver the opportunities that this business brings.


As Business Development Executive you will be responsible for generating new business in Scotland and the North of England to help identify and plan for targeted growth across both stock and members.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong relationship with all clients and prospective clients.

* Develop a strategic client/account plan to developing business in a new geographic region

* Maintain a stakeholder map, using this to report progress, risks and opportunities

* Effectively build, manage and maintain client relationships delivering excellent customer service at all times

* Identify and attend relevant industry events with recorded outcomes to inform the business about the changing landscape

* Be the brand ambassador for the Group in a designated geographic region

* Identify and plan targeted growth of potential stock partners to agreed KPI’s such as margin; stock donations; transport costs and category specific targets

* Demonstrate creativity and gravitas in presentation delivery to deliver results

* Analyse available market data on local business trends to help identify new market opportunities

* Assisting with political lobbying including relevant Scottish bodies and local councillors

* Working closely with the Branding and Communications team to plan and oversee new marketing initiatives

* Attending relevant networking events in order to generate new business leads

* Identify opportunities for targeting new members prior to new store opening

* Highlight any client related risks to the Business Development and Buying Director

* Work closely with the wider Business Development and Buying team including maintaining these relationships while working remotely and attending team events wherever possible

* Take an active role in monitoring the flow of stock purchased from your accounts through the business

* Ensure a holistic approach using information from across the business to understand what categories to target that benefit the business as a whole


* Proven experience in a Business Development role

* Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering presentations to multiple stakeholders

* Previous experience of working in a fast-paced environment preferably in a retail or FMCG environment

* Excellent customer skills with the ability to handle multiple clients

* Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to influence key stakeholders

* Excellent negotiating skills

* In depth knowledge of the food manufacturing network in the targeted area would be advantageous

* Ability to work autonomously and report progress in a timely and efficient manner

* Full driving license
